Ben Affleck confirmed to write and direct new solo Batman movie

Ben Affleck is to write and direct a new solo Batman movie, it was confirmed yesterday (July 9th).

Affleck, who will make his debut as the caped crusader in the hugely anticipated blockbuster Batman v. Superman: Dawn Of Justice, will reportedly film his solo debut as Batman after he completes work on his new adaptation of Dennis Lehane's novel Live By Night.

According to Deadline, Afflec has been working with Geoff Johns, who is DC Comics’ chief creative officer, on the script for the movie. Johns is a comic book veteran and has written series including Green Lantern, Aquaman, Batman, Justice League, The Flashand Superman. He also has written TV series superhero transfers Smallville, Arrow and The Flash. Their script is expected to be finished by the end of the summer.

Affleck and Johns' movie has no confirmed release date, but will almost certainly come out after Affleck reprises his role as Batman in the first Justice League movie in 2017.

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice will see Affleck make his debut as Batman with Henry Cavill reprising his role as Superman. Gadot is confirmed to make her debut as Wonder Woman, with The Social Network star Eisenberg taking on the role of Lex Luthor. Amy Adams, Jeremy Irons and Laurence Fishburne also have key roles in the new blockbuster.

A full synopsis was revealed early last month and you can read that in full here.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is currently scheduled to be released on March 25th 2016 in the US and in the UK. You can see the first teaser trailer below:
