Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange to take a key role in the new Spider-Man movie
Benedict Cumberbatch will reprise his role as Doctor Strange in the next Spider-Man movie.
Cumberbatch is in talks to take the role, which he will film before he starts work on sequel Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where he will work with director Sam Raimi.
According to Deadline, Cumberbatch's character will act as a mentor to Tom Holland's Peter Parker, the role most recently filled by Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark.
The news of Cumberbatch's inclusion comes a few days after it was revealed that Jamie Foxx looks set to reprise his role in the same Spider-Man movie.
Electro is a former lineman for an electric company who turned to a life of crime after being struck by lightning while working on a power line and becoming a living electric capacitor.
Foxx played the role opposite Andrew Garfield The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Garfield's last in the role and the last before the character joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Holland will be back to play the web-slinger, while Zendaya and director Jon Watts are also booked to return.
The next instalment of Spider-Man is due in cinemas on December 17th in 2021.
