Blade Runner 2049's Sylvia Hoeks joins The Girl In The Spider's Web
Sylvia Hoeks, star of Blade Runner 2049, has signed up for a key role in The Girl In The Spider's Web, the sequel to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, which will arrive in 2018, but without any of the original stars.
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, which was adapted from the first novel in Stieg Larsson's bestselling trilogy, was released in 2011 and starred Daniel Craig, Rooney Mara and Robin Wright. It was a modest box office hit, but despite that, no sequel was confirmed.
Now the series is being rebooted with The Crown's Claire Foy in the lead role of Lisbeth Salander and Fede Alvarez, direct of Don't Breathe, in the director's chair. He will work from a script from Peaky Blinders' creator Steven Knight.
According to Variety, Hoeks' role is as Salander's evil twin, a key part of the story.
The Girl In The Spider's Web isn't actually part of the author's original trilogy and was written by David Lagercrantz after the author's death with continuity to both the crime writer’s style and his characters in mind.
The new reboot will be released into cinemas on October 5th in 2018.
