Bombastic first trailer for Space Jam: A New Legacy unveiled

A first new trailer for the long-awaited animated sequel, Space Jam: A New Legacy has debuted online. Click below to watch it:

Space Jam was released in 1996 and starred Michael Jordan alongside Bugs Bunny and the rest of the Looney Tune characters.

Threatened with imprisonment in an alien theme park, the Tunes trick them into agreeing to a competition to determine their freedom. They settle on basketball, and, to earn their freedom, they seek the aid of retired basketball champion, Michael Jordan.

In the sequel, LeBron James stars and plays himself. He and his young son Dom, who dreams of being a video game developer, are trapped in a virtual space by a rogue A.I. named Al-G Rhythm.

To get home safely, James is forced to lead Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Lola Bunny and the whole gang of notoriously undisciplined Looney Tunes to victory over Al-G's digitized champions on the court, the Goon Squad...

Don Cheadle, Zendaya and Eric Bauza are among the voice cast, with Girls Trip director Malcolm D. Lee in charge.

As well as James, NBA stars Klay Thompson, Anthony Davis, Damian Lillard, Kyrie Irving, Chris Paul, Draymond Green, and Kyle Kuzma as well as WNBA stars Diana Taurasi, Nneka Ogwumike and Chiney Ogwumike are set to make cameo appearances.

You can check out the original movie here in hmv's online store.

The film will be released into UK cinemas in July.
