Rami Malek, Blade Runner 2049 star Ana De Armas and Captain Marvel's Lashana Lynch join new James Bond movie
Rami Malek, Blade Runner 2049 star Ana De Armas and Captain Marvel's Lashana Lynch are all confirmed to take key roles in the new James Bond movie.
Details of the new movie were confirmed today (April 25th) at a special event in Jamaica, where it was also revealed that Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Léa Seydoux and Jeffrey Wright will be returning to star.
The new cast did not unveil who they will be playing, but it is widely expected that Malek will play the movie's villain, especially with Spectre antagonist Christoph Waltz not part of the cast for the new film.
Producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, as well as director Cary Fukunaga, revealed details of the new film at the event, but did not reveal the film's title.
Both Scott Z.Burns and Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge have been named as writers along with Fukunaga and long-time 007 scribes Robert Wade and Neal Purvis.
The movie's official synopsis reads as follows:
"Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology..."
The film will shoot in Jamaica, Norway, the UK's Pinewood Studios and in rural Italy. Production has begun in Norway and work will begin in Jamaica in the coming weeks.
The as yet untitled movie will hit cinemas on April 3rd in the UK and in the US on April 8th in 2020.
