Brooklyn Nine-Nine rescued from cancellation by NBC

Brooklyn Nine-Nine has been rescued from cancellation.

It had been announced on Friday (May 11th) that the sitcom would end after five seasons after producers Fox decided to not pick up a sixth series.

However, NBC, who produce the show before selling it onto Fox, has stepped in and will now broadcast the show for a 13-episode sixth season.

Robert Greenblatt, chairman of NBC Entertainment said of the decision: "Ever since we sold this show to Fox I've regretted letting it get away, and it's high time it came back to its rightful home. We're all thrilled that one of the smartest, funniest, and best cast comedies in a long time will take its place in our comedy line-up."

Brooklyn Nine-Nine followed the adventures of the police department of Brooklyn's 99th Precinct and starred Andy Samberg, Stephanie Beatriz, Terry Crews, Melissa Fumero, Joe Lo Truglio, Chelsea Peretti and Andre Braugher, while the likes of Ryan Philippe, Nick Offerman and Craig Robinson have all guest starred.

You can check out the show's previous season here in hmv's online store.
