Brooklyn star Saoirse Ronan signs up to star in adaptation of Ian McEwan's On Chesil Beach
Brooklyn star Saoirse Ronan is to star in a new adaptation of Ian McEwan's bestselling novel On Chesil Beach.
According to Deadline, Ronan, who scored her first Oscar nomination for her part in Atonement, another adaptation of one of McEwan's novels, will shoot the movie this autumn.
On Chesil Beach centres around Edward Mayhew and Florence Ponting, who have just been married in the summer of 1962 and are spending their honeymoon together, a honeymoon which quite quickly unravels into something else altogeher.
Dominic Cooke, who has directed the BBC's new epic take on Shakespeare's War Of The Roses trilogy, will be in the director's chair for On Chesil Beach.
Ronan will next be seen alongside Elisabeth Moss, Annette Bening and Corey Stoll in a new movie version of Anton Chekhov's classic play The Seagull, which was filmed last summer.
Brooklyn is available to pre-order on DVD now on the right-hand side of the page.
