Call Me By Your Name's Luca Guadagnino to direct Lord Of The Flies
Luca Guadagnino, director of Call Me By Your Name, is to take charge of a new take on Lord Of The Flies.
According to Variety, Warner Brothers has enlisted the director to steward a new adaptation of William Golding's classic novel.
Lord Of The Flies is the story of a group of boys who are stranded on a desert island after their plane crashes. After a brief attempt at establishing order, the boys revert to savagery with bloody consequences.
It had been thought that the story would be flipped, with Scott McGehee and David Siegel, who last worked together on acclaimed 2012 drama What Maisie Knew, would bring together an all-female take on things. But Guadagnino has decided against that.
His new movie, which does not have a writer or any cast attached as yet, will be a contemporary re-telling.
There's no start date for the movie as yet, Guadagnino is currently working on We Are Who We Are, a new series for HBO.
The series follows a group of American teenagers on a US military base in Italy, with Julianne Moore, Chloe Sevigny, Alice Braga, Kid Cudi, Marthe Keller, KiKi Layne, Mia Goth, Alba Rohrwacher and Kyle MacLachlan in the cast.
