Channing Tatum casts doubt on planned 23 Jump Street: "I don't know if that joke works three times..."
Channing Tatum has cast doubt over plans for 23 Jump Street, saying he's not sure if making a third film in the series is the right thing to do.
Tatum and Jonah Hill starred as bumbling cops Jenko and Schmidt in both 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street which were both big hits.
Earlier this summer it was reported that work had already started on a script for 23 Jump Street, with Rodney Rothman, who was one of the writers on 22 Jump Street, penning the script for the third instalment in the franchise.
But asked by USA Today about plans for the third film, Tatum said he wasn't sure he'd want to be part of it, saying: "College was the obvious next step for us. We had to go there. I don’t know what the next step is after college. Do we go and take down Enron? Or the government in D.C.? I feel like it’s all redundant."
He continued: "The big running joke of the second movie is this is just going to be bigger and (crappier) than the first time. I don’t know if that joke works three times so we’ll see.”
Tatum will next be on the big screen as one of the voices in new animated spectacular The Book Of Life'.
