A first trailer for Papillon, the new drama starring Charlie Hunnam and Rami Malek, has debuted online. Click below to watch it:
Hunnam leads the way as Henri “Papillon” Charrière, a safecracker from the Parisian underworld who is wrongly convicted of murder and condemned to life in a notorious penal colony on Devil’s Island in French Guiana.
Desperate to get out, Papillon forms an unlikely alliance with Malek's quirky convicted counterfeiter Louis Dega, who in exchange for his protection, agrees to finance Papillon’s escape.
Roland Møller, Tommy Flanagan, Eve Hewson, Michael Socha and Ian Beattie are also on the cast list, working for Danish director Michael Noer.
The film is based on Charrière's autobiographies Papillon and Banco and a part remake of the 1973 movie which starred Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman.
The movie has no confirmed UK release date as yet, but will arrive in US cinemas on August 24th this summer.
