Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson in talks to star in Men In Black reboot
Chris Hemsworth and his Thor: Ragnarok co-star Tessa Thompson look set to star in the Men In Black reboot.
Sony Pictures have spent much of the last two years planning on combining their successful Jump Street franchise into Men In Black, but in late 2017 they scrapped that idea and focused on a new reboot.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, both Hemsworth and Thompson are close to signing on to take leading roles in the new reboot, which will be directed by F. Gary Gray, best known for his work on Straight Outta Compton and Fast 8. Iron Man screenwriters Matt Holloway and Art Marcum have provided the script.
Men In Black followed Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, who played agents of a secret organisation that polices and monitors extraterrestrial interactions on Earth. The three movies grossed over $1.7 billion at the box office.
For the new reboot, the story will feature new characters rather than Smith and Jones' Agents K and J, and will build on the contemporary sci-fi world in which they operated. It is also expected more of an ensemble movie rather than a focused story for the two leads.
The Men In Black reboot is due in cinemas on June 14th in 2019.
