Chris Pine admits Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit sequel is unlikely to happen
Chris Pine has revealed that a sequel to Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit is unlikely to be produced.
The actor, who starred alongside Keira Knightley and Kevin Costner in the action flick, told Moviefone that he believed there was little chance he'd be seen in that role again.
He said: "I don't think it made enough money for [a sequel] to happen. That's one of my deep regrets, that we didn't totally get that right. It's a great franchise and if it's not me then I hope it gets a fifth life at this point. It's just great. I love the spy genre. I hope it's done again and with a great story."
The Jack Ryan films are based on a popular series of books written by author Tom Clancy. Shadow Recruit was released in January of this year, grossing just under $140 million on a budget of $60 million. It was directed by Kenneth Branagh, who also starred as the film's villain.
