Chris Pine signs multi-movie deal with DC and will star in Wonder Woman
Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit and Into The Woods star Chris Pine has signed a deal with Warner Brothers to join the DC movie universe for a number of films.
According to The Wrap, Pine, who is currently preparing to film Star Trek 3, will begin his deal by playing Steve Trevor, the love interest of Wonder Woman, who will be played by Gal Gadot.
In the Wonder Woman comic books, Steve Trevor is an intelligence officer serving during World War II whose plane crash lands on Paradise Island, the land of Wonder Woman and her fellow Amazons. Once there, he is nursed back to health by the Amazon princess Diana, who falls in love with him and follows him back to the outside world. It is here that she becomes Wonder Woman.
Pine, who will next be in post-apocalyptic thriller Z For Zachariah, has also been linked with a key role in DC's forthcoming reboot of Green Lantern.
Wonder Woman, who will first be seen in 2016's Batman Vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice, will see her own standalone movie released in June 2017, just a few months before the first instalment of Justice League, where she will star alongside Batman, Superman, The Flash, Aquaman and more of DC's many superheroes.
