Community director Rob Schrab to direct The Lego Movie sequel
Rob Schrab, best known for directing episodes of hit sitcoms Community and Parks And Recreation, will direct the sequel to The Lego Movie.
The film, which is to be fittingly titled The Lego Movie Sequel, is set for release in 2018. Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who directed the first film, will stay onboard as writers and producers.
Before the sequel comes out there will be two more spin-offs from The Lego Movie, the first will be Lego Ninjago, which is due out next year and has Charlie Bean in the director's chair. The second is Lego Batman, the character, who was voiced by Arrested Development star Will Arnett, has proved to be so popular that studio bosses have now decided to give it its own sequel, which is due for release in 2017.
The Lego Movie was a huge hit last year, raking in almost $500 million at the box office. As well as Arnett, it featured the voices of Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie, Charlie Day, Liam Neeson, and Morgan Freeman.
Miller and Lord are currently working on the follow-up to the hugely successful comedy 22 Jump Street.
