Creed's Ryan Coogler confirmed to direct Marvel's Black Panther
Ryan Coogler, director of Fruitvale Station and forthcoming Rocky spin-off Creed, has signed up to direct Marvel's new blockbuster Black Panther.
The movie, which will star Get On Up's Chadwick Boseman in the title role, is due for release on February 18th in 2018.
Speaking about the announcement, Marvel mainman Kevin Feige said: "We are fortunate to have such an esteemed filmmaker join the Marvel family. The talents Ryan showcased in his first two films easily made him our top choice to direct Black Panther."
He continued: "Many fans have waited a long time to see Black Panther in his own film, and with Ryan we know we’ve found the perfect director to bring T’Challa’s story to life.”
Fans will get a first look at Black Panther, who possesses superhumanly acute senses and increases his strength, speed, stamina, reflexes and agility, in the forthcoming Captain America: Civil War, which is due in UK cinemas on April 29th.
