Cuba Gooding Jr signs up to play OJ Simpson in new drama from Glee creator
Jerry Maguire star Cuba Gooding Jr has signed up to star as O.J. Simpson in new drama American Crime Story.
American Crime Story has been created by Glee's Ryan Murphy and is a spin-off of his established drama American Horror Story. Each series of the show will focus on a different true crime from America's history, reports Deadline.
The first in the anthology series will be titled American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson, it will star Gooding Jr as Simpson, with Sarah Paulson, who is currently portraying conjoined twins Bette and Dot Tattler in American Horror Story: Freak Show, signed up to play Marcie Clark, the prosecutor trying to convict Simpson.
The show will be based on the book The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson and will be told from the perspective of the lawyers as the trial progresses.
O.J. Simpson was a successful American football player, who stood trial in 1995 after being charged with killing his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman in 1994. He was eventually acquitted.
