Daisy Ridley offers up a new take on a Shakespeare classic in the first trailer for Ophelia

The first trailer for Ophelia, the new drama starring Daisy Ridley and Naomi Watts, has arrived. Click below to watch it:

The movie is an adaptation of Lisa Klein's 2006 young adult novel of the same name and re-tells Shakespeare's Hamlet from a female-centric view, with Ophelia, the daughter of Claudius’ chief advisor who falls for Hamlet, the centre of things.

Ridley plays Ophelia, while Watts takes on the role of Queen Gertrude, Clive Owen plays Claudius with George MacKay portraying Hamlet.

Tom Felton, Devon Terrell, Dominic Mafham and Daisy Head are in supporting roles.

Claire McCarthy, who directed indie hit The Waiting City, is behind the camera.

The movie is released into US cinemas in July, with a UK release date to be confirmed soon.
