Danny Boyle confirmed to direct next James Bond movie, Universal Pictures to distribute in UK
Danny Boyle has been confirmed to direct the next James Bond movie.
Earlier this year, it was reported that when it came to picking a director for the next Bond, Slumdog Millionaire and Trainspotting director Boyle was the producer's choice for the role and he has now been confirmed.
Boyle will work from a script from long-time collaborator John Hodge, with production beginning on December 3rd this year at Pinewood Studios.
Universal Pictures will release the film in the UK and internationally, with the exception of the US where MGM will release the film in the United States on November 8th in 2019 through a partnership with Annapurna Pictures. The UK release date remains October 25th in 2019.
Speaking about the decision, producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said: "We are delighted to announce that the exceptionally talented Danny Boyle will be directing Daniel Craig in his fifth outing as James Bond in the 25th instalment of the franchise. We will begin shooting Bond 25 at Pinewood Studios in December with our partners at MGM and are thrilled that Universal will be our international distributor.”
The film, which is still untitled, is widely expected to be Daniel Craig's last as 007.
