Dark first teaser for Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil debuts online
A first trailer for Maleficent sequel Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil has debuted online.
Maleficent, which took over $750 million at the box office upon release in 2014, is a live-action fantasy prequel to the 1959 Disney animation based on the classic fairytale.
Angelina Jolie played the title character, an evil fairy who cursed an infant princess to eternal sleep, only then to realise the young girl was the only one who could save the kingdom from its dangerous ruler.
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil is set several years after the original and will follow Maleficent and Elle Fanning's Aurora as they form new alliances and face new adversaries in their struggle to protect the moors and the magical creatures who live there...
As well as Jolie and Fanning, Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple and Lesley Manville will also return to reprise their roles.
Ed Skrein will play the film's villain, with Michelle Pfeiffer, Harris Dickenson, Jenn Murray, David Gyasi, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Robert Lindsay also new additions for the sequel.
For the sequel, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales' Joachim Ronning will direct, with Jez Butterworth and original writer Linda Woolverton working on the script.
Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil will be released into UK cinemas on October 18th.
