David Yates confirms young Albus Dumbledore will feature in Fantastic Beasts sequel
David Yates has confirmed that Albus Dumbledore will feature in the sequel to Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, the new spin-off from Harry Potter, scripted by J. K. Rowling.
Speaking to ScreenRant, Yates said: "In the second movie Dumbledore comes back. He’s got a couple of good scenes with Newt. We’re discussing who would play Dumbledore, any suggestions would be good!"
The sequel will film in early 2017 with newly confirmed star Johnny Depp joining up as soon as he completes work on a new version of Agatha Christie's Murder On The Orient Express. It's not known what role he will play as yet, but he is expected to have a small cameo in the first movie, which hits cinemas later this month.
Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them is set 70 years before the events of Harry Potter and follows the adventures of Eddie Redmayne's Newt Scamander, a wizard at the heart New York's secret magic community, who arrives for a meeting with a briefcase full of magical creatures, some of whom end up escaping.
The movie stars, Redmayne, Ezra Miller, Katherine Waterson, Colin Farrell, Alison Sudol and Dan Fogler. The movie has been directed by David Yates, who was behind the camera on four of the eight Harry Potter films, and is the start of a trilogy of movies.
J.K. Rowling revealed earlier this summer that she is planning a total of five movies in the Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them series.
Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them will be released into cinemas on November 18th next year. The sequel is scheduled to hit cinemas on November 16th in 2018.
