Denzel Washington to star in remake of The Magnificent Seven
Denzel Washington has signed up to star in a remake of classic western The Magnificent Seven.
According to Variety, director Antoine Fuqua, with whom Washington has just made action thriller The Equalizer, has confirmed that he and Washington will team up once again to remake the Western.
The original Magnificent Seven was actually a remake itself, with the original actually being 1954 Japanese action thriller Seven Samurai.
The Western was released in 1960 and starred Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, James Coburn, Robert Vaughn, Brad Dexter and Horst Buchholz as a group of seven American gunmen who are hired to protect a small agricultural village in Mexico from a group of marauding native bandits.
It's not known who will star alongside Washington in this new version.
The Equalizer will be released into UK cinemas later this month. It stars Washington as a former black ops commando who faked his death for a quiet life in Boston, but is forced out of retirement when a young girl goes missing. You can watch the trailer below.
