Director for next Star Wars movie to be confirmed in January
The director to take charge of the next Star Wars movie will be announced in January.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has said that she will confirm the identity of the helmer of the next Star Wars movie at the start of 2020, with a planned release date of 2022.
The new charge will fill the vacancy left by Game Of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and DB Weiss, who dropped their planned Star Wars trilogy last month.
The final instalment in the Skywalker saga, Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker, arrives this year on December 19th.
Rian Johnson, director of 2017's The Last Jedi, continues to work on a planned new trilogy, but there is still no word on when that can be expected in cinemas.
