Director James Wan reveals the title of Aquaman sequel
James Wan has revealed that the title of the forthcoming Aquaman sequel.
Released in 2018, Aquaman grossed over $1.1 billion at the box office, meaning a sequel was swiftly ordered.
Wan, who directed the original, took to Instagram yesterday to reveal that the sequel will be titled Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom.
Jason Momoa, who made his debut in Justice League, took the title role in Aquaman, while Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Nicole Kidman were in supporting roles.
This movie serves as an origin story for Momoa's Arthur Curry, absent heir to the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, who must step forward to lead his people after his half-brother Orm decides is set on invading the surface.
For the sequel, Momoa, Heard, Wilson and Abdul-Mateen II will reprise their roles, with Game Of Thrones' star Pilou Asbaek joining the cast. Production is due to begin in Hawaii next month.
Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom will arrive in cinemas on December 16th in 2022, a similar time of year to the original's release date.
