Disney announces Frozen follow-up short film Frozen Fever
Disney have announced that the follow-up to Frozen will be released next year in the shape of a new short film titled Frozen Fever.
Directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee will direct the new short film, which will feature a new song from Oscar winners Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez.
According to the official announcement, the film centres about a birthday party, with the logline reading: "In Frozen Fever, it's Anna's birthday and Elsa and Kristoff are determined to give her the best celebration ever, but Elsa's icy powers may put more than just the party at risk."
The announcement of this new short film has been made ahead of a new documentary about the making of the film, which is due to air on US network ABC. A new sing-a-long version of the movie is due out on DVD and Blu-ray in November
Last week, Frozen producer Peter Del Vecho said that he believed it was "too early" to talk about plans for a sequel to the hugely successful animation.
Speaking to TVGuide.com, Del Vecho said that his team's current priority was the Broadway adaptation of the film, which is currently being developed.
Asked when people could expect a sequel to Frozen, Del Vecho said: "Certainly you can't go on the internet without that question coming up. Right now, it's too early for us to talk anything about that. What we have talked about is a Broadway show, which is under development. There's no specific timeline for that. Jen [Lee] will be involved in that, Chris [Buck] will be involved."
He continued: "It'll get produced from our theatrical unit. That's the next logical step for the project."
Frozen was a box-office smash hit, raking in over $1.25 billion at the box office. It sold 3.2 million DVDs on its DVD of release earlier this year.
