Disney developing Star Wars young Obi-Wan Kenobi spin-off
Disney are developing a Star Wars spin-off about Obi-Wan Kenobi.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, director Stephen Daldry, who has most recently directed The Crown for Netflix, is attached to direct and develop the spin-off.
The reports states it's early days and there is no script as yet, but the idea is that Daldry will steward the story of the Jedi master who has been played by both Alec Guinness and Ewan McGregor in the past.
McGregor has said in interviews that he would be open to playing the character again, but there is no star attached to the project as yet.
Obi-Wan Kenobi joins projects based around Yoda and Boba Fett in development for Star Wars spin-offs.
Currently in production is the new Star Wars spin-off about young Han Solo.
22 Jump Street directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller had been working on the movie, which entered production earlier this summer, but left the film last month after disagreements with Lucasfilm.
Ron Howard, who has most recently worked on Dan Brown adaptation Inferno and hit documentary The Beatles: Eight Days a Week - The Touring Years, was confirmed to take over as director and is now re-working the movie.
The movie is due to be released on May 25th in 2018 and so far there have been no announcements about a delayed release.
Alden Ehrenreich, star of Hail, Caesar and Beautiful Creatures is to play young Han Solo in the much-anticipated new Star Wars spin-off, with Donald Glover, best known for his roles in Community and The Martian, taking the role of young Lando Calrissian, while Game Of Thrones' Emilia Clarke and Fleabag's Phoebe Waller-Bridge also have key roles in the spin-off.
This movie is the second Star Wars spin-off following the release of Rogue One - A Star Wars Story, which is out on DVD now.
