Disney planning a remake of 1992 classic comedy Sister Act
Disney are to remake classic 1992 musical comedy Sister Act.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Disney have instructed Legally Blonde and She's The Man writers Kirsten 'Kiwi' Smith and Karen McCullah to begin work on a script for the remake of the movie.
The original starred Whoopi Goldberg as a lounge singer who is forced to go into witness protection in a convent after a mob boss orders a hit on her. It's not known as this point whether Goldberg will have any role in the remake.
The film was a box office smash, grossing over $230 million at the box office against a budget of just over $30 million. It spawned a sequel Sister Act 2: Back In The Habit and a successful Broadway musical, which ran for a number of years.
Allison Shearmur, producer of Disney's recent hit Cinderella, will produce the new movie, which currently has no star or director attached.
