Disney reportedly planning "at least three" Han Solo spin-off movies
Disney is planning "at least three" spin-off movies featuring a young Han Solo, according to new reports.
Alden Ehrenreich, star of Hail, Caesar and Beautiful Creatures is to play young Han Solo in the much-anticipated new Star Wars spin-off, which is now in pre-production, but, according to the New York Daily News, this new movie is the first of many.
A source told the paper: "There is a real sense of excitement around the Han Solo movie and its potential. Given that Han's early adventures do not need to be tied to the Empire, it leaves story lines open with the opportunity to really give fans something different. They can explore new galaxies and crazy creatures and bring in a wide array of new characters."
They continued: "They feel that his character has the right potential to become a central figure in several movies. They're keeping things under wraps at the moment, but the deal is that he has signed for at least three movies."
Ehrenreich's debut, which is expected to be called Han Solo: A Star Wars Story, is currently in pre-production with 22 Jump Street directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller. It is due to hit cinemas on May 25th in 2018.
The audition process to find the young Solo has been exhaustive with reportedly over 2,500 actos trying out for the role, among those who'd been seen by casting directors are Kingsman: The Secret Service star Taron Egerton, Jack Reynor, who made his name in Transformers: Age Of Extinction, Harry Potter star Tom Felton, Godzilla's Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Mr Robot's Rami Malek, The Fault In Our Stars' Ansel Elgort, Now You See Me's Dave Franco, Whiplash's Miles Teller and even Chandler Riggs, the 16-year-old star of The Walking Dead.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens is out now on DVD and Blu-Ray, with the Blu-ray will be accompanied by a string of bonus features.
As well as the six deleted scenes it had previously been revealed would be arriving with the Blu-Ray, the package will also include a documentary on the making of the movie titled "Secrets Of The Force Awakens: A Cinematic Journey" as well as a recording of the movie's table read.
It will also include a string of 'making of' features including a focus on the making of BB-8 and the movie's new creatures, a look at the recording of John Williams' score and a feature on the changes made to reboot the Star Wars franchise.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens grossed over two billion dollars at the box office and is available to order on DVD and Blu-Ray on the right-hand side of the page.
