Downton Abbey's Jessica Brown Findlay joins cast of Morrissey biopic Steven
Downton Abbey's Jessica Brown Findlay will star in Steven, the forthcoming biopic of Morrissey.
According to Deadline, Brown Findlay will play Linder Sterling, an English visual artist, performance artist and musician from Liverpool who became a close friend of Morrissey.
The biopic will star 71's Jack Lowden as Morrissey and is to be directed by Mark Gill, who makes his feature film debut. Gill has written the movie with William Thacker, his co-writer on their Oscar-nominated short film The Voorman Problem.
It will follow Morrissey's teenage years and tell the story of how he went from awkward adolescent to frontman with The Smiths.
Production on Steven will begin later this month and will be completed before Lowden heads off to film Christopher Nolan's new epic Dunkirk.
Brown Findlay starred alongside James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe in Victor Frankenstein, which is released on DVD this week, click on the icon on the right-hand side of the page to purchase it.
