Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham's Fast and Furious Spinoff given 2019 release date
The spin-off from Fast and Furious, starring Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Jason Statham, has been given a release date.
The film, which follows Johnson's Luke Hobbs, the Diplomatic Security Service agent who has been a part of the franchise since 2011's Fast Five, and Statham's Deckard Shaw, the former villain who became a key part of the team in Fast 8, will hit cinemas in July 26th in 2019.
News of the spin-off comes 24 hours after it was announced that the ninth instalment of Fast and Furious has been put back by a full year.
Previously it had been confirmed that the ninth and 10th instalment of the hugely successful franchise would arrive in April of 2019 and 2021 respectively, but that has now been reworked with the ninth instalment now due to hit cinemas on April 10th in 2020.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Justin Lin is the early favourite to direct the ninth instalment and is expected to enter talks soon.
