Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson to play MMA fighter Mark “The Smashing Machine” Kerr in new biopic
Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has signed up to star in a new biopic of MMA fighter Mark “The Smashing Machine” Kerr.
Johnson will produce and star as Kerr in the film, with his Seven Bucks production company developing the project.
The film will be based around the 2002 documentary The Smashing Machine: The Life and Times of Extreme Fighter Mark Kerr.
Johnson announced the project over the weekend at a press conference ahead of the UFC 244 event.
Kerr was widely regarded as the best MMA fighter in the world during his career, earning the “The Smashing Machine” nickname for his ability to finish fights quickly.
But, as his career waned, he also suffered from an addiction to painkillers. The film will chronicle his journey.
