EastEnders star Ben Hardy joins the cast of X-Men: Apocalypse
EastEnders star Ben Hardy has joined the cast of new blockbuster X-Men: Apocalypse, according to reports overnight.
Hardy played the role of Peter Beale on the soap opera until last night (February 24th) when his leaving scenes were shown. According to Variety, he has been cast in a currently unknown, but big role on Bryan Singer's new epic.
X-Men: Apocalypse will see Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Evan Peters and Nicholas Hoult return to reprise their roles. Bryan Singer will return as director, working from a script by Simon Kinberg, with a story from Singer, Kinberg, Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris.
Hardy joins the newly cast star of Game Of Thrones Sophie Turner, who most people will know as Sansa Stark, who will play young Jean Grey, who was brought to life in the original trilogy by Famke Janssen.
Alexandra Shipp, who recently starred as Aaliyah in the Lifetime biopic Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B, will play the younger Storm, played originally by Halle Berry, Kodi Smit-McPhee, star of The Road, will play young Nightcrawler, and Tye Sheridan, who has starred in Mud and Tree Of Life, will portray a younger Cyclops, a character played originally by James Marsden.
Oscar Isaac has been cast as the film's key villain, Apocalypse, who was first seen in the post-credit sequence for X-Men: Days of Future Past. The film will be released on May 19th 2016 in the UK and May 27th in the US.
