Eddie Izzard to lead new Da Vinci code TV spin-off Langdon
Eddie Izzard and Succession star Ashley Zukerman will lead a new TV drama, which is based on Dan Brown’s best-selling thriller novel The Lost Symbol.
According to Deadline, the series will follow Brown's Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon as he battles to save his mentor, who has been kidnapped, and, in the process, halt a deadly global conspiracy.
Named Langdon, it will star Zukerman in the title role with Izzard playing Peter, the Director of the Smithsonian museum. The Tick's Valorie Curry has also been cast in a key role.
Langdon has been put on the big screen three times with Tom Hanks playing the symbologist in 2006's The Da Vinci Code, 2009's Angels & Demons and 2016's Inferno.
Written by Dan Dworkin and Jay Beattie, Langdon is executive-produced by Ron Howard, who directed each of the movies. The pilot will shoot this autumn as soon as it is ruled safe to do so amid the coronavirus pandemic.
