Eddie Redmayne signs up for new Thomas The Tank Engine movie
Eddie Redmayne has signed up to voice one of the characters in a new movie featuring classic children's character Thomas The Tank Engine.
Redmayne, who collected his first Oscar on Sunday (February 22nd), will lend his vocal chords to new film Sodor's Legend of the Lost Treasure, which is being released to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Thomas & Friends.
The Theory Of Everything star will voice a new engine named Ryan, with John Hurt and Jamie Campbell Bower also recording parts for the film.
Speaking about the role, Redmayne said: "I grew up loving to watch Thomas and his pals getting caught up in unexpected and mischievous adventures. I jumped at the opportunity to get involved and what fun it was! I have never voiced an animated character before, and I had a complete blast."
Hurt will voice a character called Sailor John and said of his role: "I remember watching Thomas the Tank Engine with my children when they were young and I'm delighted that it continues to appeal to each successive generation. I enjoy working vocally and have voiced many animated characters. Sailor John was something of a departure from what I usually do and a lot of fun to play."
Sodor's Legend of the Lost Treasure will be released on DVD later this year.
