Enough Said: What You Need To Know
James Gandolfini's final film, grown-up comedy Enough Said is released on DVD and Blu-Ray on Monday (February 10). Here's what you need to know about it:
What’s the background?
Released in the autumn of 2013, Enough Said is a low-key, witty comedy about finding love in later life that, in the normal run of things, would have performed respectfully at the box office, but not gathered too much hype. Sadly, the tragic death of the film's star James Gandolfini meant it was his last ever movie, and, while it gave the film a greater profile than it might have otherwise enjoyed, it also meant it came out on a slightly sombre note.
Who’s in it?
Seinfeld star Julie-Louis Dreyfus and Gandolfini lead the way, with supporting appearances from Catherine Keener (Where The Wild Things Are), Toni Collette (The Way, Way Back) and Eve Hewson (Blood Ties).
What’s the plot?
Dreyfus is the film's centrepoint, playing Eva, a professional masseuse who divorced her husband some years ago. After deciding to date, she meets Albert, played by Gandolfini, at the same time as she strikes up a friendship with a poet named Marianne (Keener), who, it turns out, is Albert's ex-wife. And then things get a little complicated…
Does it deliver?
As an unassuming, comedy about love in later life absolutely. Well worth a look.
