Felicity Jones, Rooney Mara and Tatiana Maslany in line for key role in first stand-alone Star Wars movie
The Theory Of Everything star Felicity Jones, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo leading lady Rooney Mara and Orphan Black's Tatiana Maslany have been linked with a starring role in the first stand-alone Star Wars movie.
Last year it was confirmed that two Star Wars stand-alone films would be produced alongside the new trilogy of movies. Godzilla director Gareth Edwards will direct the first of the pair, with Chronicle's Josh Trank directing the second.
Edwards' film is due for release on December 16th in 2016, and, according to the Hollywood Reporter, Jones, Maslany and Mara are all due to take part in screen tests for a key role in the new film.
The report states that testing and reading for the movie took place in the UK in December and has now moved to the US as producers begin to assemble the key cast. Little is known about the plot at this point, although there have been rumours that it will focused on the early life of Han Solo, but nothing confirmed.
Edwards' movie is currently without a writer after After Earth scribe Gary Whitta left the project.
