First images emerge for X-Men: Dark Phoenix
The first new images from the next instalment in the X-Men saga have been published, with Entertainment Weekly revealing some new stills from X-Men: Dark Phoenix, offering a first look what director Simon Kinberg has in store for his upcoming film.
Kinberg takes over from Bryan Singer in helming the X-Men franchise, making his directorial debut with X-Men: Dark Phoenix, although he's no stranger to the X-Men family, having worked as producer and writer on the last three X-Men movies. The first images already show a slight shift in tone, with an updated look for Jennifer Lawrence's mystique and hints at a dark storyline; one of the published images shows James McAvoy's Professor Chales Xavier and others at what appears to be a funeral, although it's not clear exactly who is being mourned. McAvoy has said of the new film: “This is probably the most emotional X-Men we’ve done and the most pathos-driven. There’s a lot of sacrifice and a lot of suffering.” There's also a first look at Jessica Chastain in her new role for Kinberg's flim.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix is due to arrive on UK cinema screens in November next year, in the meantime you can get a look at the new images below...
