First look pictures from Godzilla: King Of Monsters unveiled
The first stills from Godzilla: King Of The Monsters, the sequel to 2014's Godzilla, have been unveiled. You can see them below:
Michael Dougherty, best known as the writer and director of festive horror Krampus, directs the Godzilla sequel, working from a script he co-wrote alongside Zach Shields.
Ken Watanabe and Sally Hawkins are reprising their roles from Godzilla while O'Shea Jackson Jr, Vera Farmiga, Kyle Chandler, and Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown all join the cast. You can see Farmiga and Brown in action above in the images, which have been made available via Entertainment Weekly.
The synopsis for the sequel is as follows:
"The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance."
Godzilla: King Of Monsters had originally been due to hit cinemas last month, but it now won't hit screens until May 31st in 2019. It precedes Godzilla Vs King Kong, which will be released in 2020 and now has a confirmed release date of May 29th in that year.
Godzilla starred Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Olsen, Hawkins and Watanabe and is available to order in hmv's online store by clicking on the icon on the right-hand side of the page.
