First trailer unveiled for Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City
The first trailer for Johannes Roberts’ upcoming reboot of the Resident Evil series has made its debut online – take a look below…
Closely based on the story featured in the first two instalments of Capcom’s enduring video game series, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City stars Kaya Scodelario, Tom Hopper, Robbie Amell and Hannah John-Kamen in a story set in a decaying Midwestern town that was formerly home to the sinister pharmaceutical company, the Umbrella Corporation.
First adapted for the big screen in 2002 with Paul W. S. Anderson’s Resident Evil starring Milla Jovovich, the franchise has spawned six films to date and remains the highest-grossing zombie film series of all time.
Roberts, however, whose previous films include 47 Meters Down and supernatural horror The Other Side of the Door, intends to depart from the style of the previous films and stick more closely to the both the story and the aesthetic of the early Resident Evil games.
Due to be released in the US in November this year Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is due to make its debut in UK cinemas on December 3.
