Fleabag's Andrew Scott to lead new adaptation of The Talented Mr Ripley
Andrew Scott is to lead a new TV adaptation of The Talented Mr Ripley.
Scott, who is best known for his roles in Fleabag and Sherlock, will work for Showtime and Oscar-winning screenwriter Steve Zaillian, who is overseeing the series.
The Talented Mr Ripley is a Patricia Highsmith novel and was adapted for the big screen back in 1999 with a cast that included Matt Damon, Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow.
It follows Tom Ripley, a poor young man in 1960s New York, who is sent to Italy by a wealthy businessman to retrieve his errant son and haul him back to America.
Though the film only covered the first of Highsmith's books, with the character appearing in five further novels.
It's unknown how much of that will be covered by Zaillain in the first of this eight-part season.
