American Crime Story has been created by Glee's Ryan Murphy and is a spin-off of his established drama American Horror Story. Each series of the show will focus on a different true crime from America's history.
The first in the anthology series will be titled American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson, it will star Gooding Jr as Simpson, with Paulson, who is currently portraying conjoined twins Bette and Dot Tattler in American Horror Story: Freak Show, signed up to play Marcie Clark, the prosecutor trying to convict Simpson.
The show will be based on the book The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson and will be told from the perspective of the lawyers as the trial progresses. The rest of Simpson's legal team, Robert Shapiro, F. Lee Bailey, Alan Dershowitz and Johnnie Cochran, have yet to be cast.
