A full synopsis for Thor: Ragnarok has been unveiled.
The movie, which is now in post-production, was already confirmed to feature The Incredible Hulk and we now know that he and Thor will be going head to head.
The film's full plot synopsis reads as follows: "In Marvel Studios' Thor: Ragnarok, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok — the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization — at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger — the Incredible Hulk!"
As well as Ruffalo, Cate Blanchett, Creed star Tessa Thompson, Dredd's Karl Urban and Jeff Goldblum are all new additions to the cast for Thor's third solo outing. They join a returning Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Anthony Hopkins and Jaime Alexander.
Blanchett will play the movie's villain Hela, the Asgardian goddess of death, who is based on the Norse goddess, Hel, Thompson will play Valkyrie, a new love interest for Thor, who is based on the Norse mythological figure Brynhildr, with Urban playing Skurge, a fearsome warrior.
The movie, which will be directed by Taika Waititi, best known for his work writing and directing Flight Of The Conchords and vampire spoof What We Do In The Shadows, is due to hit cinemas in on October 27th in 2017.
