Gal Gadot to reteam with Patty Jenkins for new take on Cleopatra
Gal Gadot is to lead a new take on Cleopatra.
According to Variety, Gadot will re-team with Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins for the movie, which will be distributed by Paramount Pictures.
The new take will come from a story by Gadot, with Shutter Island writer Laeta Kalogridis set to write the script after researching the angle that the team wants to take.
The story of Cleopatra, the last active ruler of the Egyptian empire, who would go on to become tangled with the rulers of the Roman empire, has been put on screen a number of times.
Most famously, in 1963, in a telling which starred Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor, it achieved notoriety during its production for its massive cost overruns and production troubles, which almost bankrupted studio 20th Century Fox in the process.
