Game Of Thrones' Gwendoline Christie to star in second series of Top Of The Lake
Game Of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie has signed up for a key role in the second series of drama Top Of The Lake.
The show starred Mad Men's Elisabeth Moss as Robin Griffin, a police detective who returns to her home town in rural New Zealand after a 12-year old girl attempts to try kill herself, an event which uncovers a series of nasty secrets for the local population.
The show is directed and co-written by Jane Campion, best known as writer and director of The Piano.
Speaking about the role, of which there are no details, Christie, who also starred as Captain Phasma in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, said: "Jane Campion has been a major creative influence throughout my life. I could not feel more privileged to be working on the next instalment of unique and enthralling drama."
As well as Christie, David Dencik, Alice Englert and Ewen Leslie will also join the cast for the second series, which will see Moss's character try to solve a case after the unidentified body of an Asian girl washes up on to Sydney's Bondi Beach.
