Game Of Thrones' Maisie Williams and Split's Anya Taylor-Joy confirmed for X-Men spin-off New Mutants
Game Of Thrones star Maisie Williams and Anya Taylor-Joy, best known for her role in Split, have joined the cast for X-Men spin-off New Mutants.
The spin-off will be directed by Josh Boone, director of megahit drama The Fault In Our Stars, who has written the script with Jackass writer Knate Gwaltney.
The New Mutants have been portrayed in various Marvel comic series since 1982, with some, like Blink, Warpath and Sunspot, already part of the established X-Men universe.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Williams has signed up to play the role of Wolfsbane, a girl struggling to reconcile her religious beliefs with her power to turn into a wolf, while Taylor-Joy will play Magik, a girl who has learned sorcery and uses teleportation discs to travel. Magik is the sister of Colossus, mostly recently seen in 2016's Deadpool.
Other mutants still to be cast in the new movie are a Native American named Danielle Moonstar, a Brazilian who can absorb solar power, and a Kentuckian code-named Cannonball.
New Mutants is due out in April 2018 with filming expected to get underway this summer.
