Game of Thrones prequel adds John Simm to its cast
HBO's upcoming Game of Thrones prequel has made five new additions to its steadily growing cast, including Doctor Who and Life on Mars star John Simm, who becomes the latest to sign up for the as-yet-untitled prequel series.
Alongside him are another four new additions including Luke Cage's Marquis Rodriguez, Poldark's Richard McCabe, Dickensian's John Heffernan and young Patrick Melrose actress Dixie Egerickx.
Simm and the rest join a cast which includes recently added Blackadder star Miranda Richardson, as well as others such as Naomi Watts, Denise Gough, Jamie Campbell Bower and Toby Regbo, among several others.
The prequel series is being overseen by British screenwriter Jane Goldman, whose previous writing credits include Kick-Ass, X-Men: Days of Future Past and The Limehouse Golem. Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin is also understood to be working alongside Goldman on the new series, which is due to be set thousands of years before the events depicted in Game of Thrones, during the so-called 'Long Night'.
Beyond that, details of the new series are still pretty scarce, and with the final season of Game of Thrones due to begin in just a couple of weeks' time is is expected to be at least April 2020 before the first episode of the prequel series is broadcast, although there's no firm release date for the new show as things stand.
