George Miller reveals he has written scripts for two more Mad Max films
Mad Max creator George Miller has revealed that he has completed scripts for another two Mad Max films, co-written with Nico Lathouris during the making of his 2015 film Mad Max: Fury Road, which starred Tom Hardy alongside Charlize Theron and revived the world of his earlier trilogy of films.
In an interview with The Independent published this week, Miller discussed the 'black and chrome' edition of his 2015 film, which is due to screen in cinemas for one night only this Sunday before being released on Blu-ray on May 15th (You can pre-order your copy here).
But the director also revealed that, partly as a result of the delays that the film was subjected to, he and co-writer Lathouris wrote two further scripts around the characters in Fury Road: “We dug down deep into the subtext, the backstory of all the characters, and indeed the world…and without really thinking about it, we wrote two other screenplays just as part of the bible of the stories.”
Miller stopped short of confirming that more films are definitely on the way, but Tom Hardy is understood to be committed to the idea and there's even a provisional title for the first of the two films - Mad Max: The Wasteland. “Somewhere”, the director added, “if the planets align, there will be two other films.”
