The new movie acts as a direct sequel to Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II.
It follows a single mother and her two children who move to Summerville, Oklahoma after inheriting property from a previously unknown relative.
When the town experiences a series of unexplained earthquakes, the children discover their family's link to the original Ghostbusters.
The film stars Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, Carrie Coon and Paul Rudd, while Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts reprise their roles from the original two films.
Jason Reitman, son of Ivan Reitman, who directed the first two movies, is on directing duty. He has written the script with Gil Kenan.
The film will not include any reference to the 2016 Ghostbusters reboot, which starred Melissa McCarthy and Kate McKinnon.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife will be released into UK cinemas on July 10th in 2020.
