Godzilla writer to script Zombieland sequel
Dave Callaham, the man who penned the script for this year's hugely successful blockbuster Godzilla, is to write the sequel to Zombieland.
According to Deadline, Callaham, who has also written the original script for The Expendables and 2005's Doom, will now begin work on crafting the sequel to the 2009 zombie action thriller.
Callaham will work under the supervision of director Ruben Fleischer, who looks set to be return to the direct the sequel.
Zombieland grossed over $100 million when it was released in 2009. It starred Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson and Abigail Breslin and told the story of a group of survivors of a zombie apocalypse, who take an extended road trip across Southwestern United States in an attempt to find a sanctuary free from zombies.
It is unknown how many of the first movie's cast would return for any sequel.
Originally, producers planned to take the movie forward with a TV series titled Zombieland: The Series, however the show did not get beyond the pilot stage.
