Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach to team up to write Margot Robbie's Barbie movie
Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach are to team up to write the new Barbie movie.
The blockbuster, which will see Margot Robbie play the title character, will be produced by Warner Bros and Barbie toy makers Mattel.
According to Deadline, the pair, who have teamed up before on Frances Ha and Mistress America, will write the movie, while Gerwig is also considering directing the project.
Originally, the Barbie movie was due to star Amy Schumer, but she dropped out of production and was replaced by Anne Hathaway.
That production was based at Sony, but then collapsed and moved to Warner Bros with Robbie.
Plot details on the new movie remain under wrap at this point.
There have been 36 animated Barbie movies made over the years, but this would be the first live-action take on the hugely successful range of toys.
