Guillermo Del Toro confirms that Hellboy 3 is off the table for good
Guillermo Del Toro has revealed that a third instalment of Hellboy will not be happening.
The visionary director, who has already made two films in the franchise, Hellboy and Hellboy II: The Golden Army, has talked openly about his wish to make a third movie in the series but has now confirmed that it will not be happening and that he is done with the question.
Hellboy 3 Sorry to report: Spoke w all parties. Must report that 100% the sequel will not happen. And that is to be the final thing about it— Guillermo del Toro (@RealGDT) February 21, 2017
The director went on to add that although he believed the franchise could live on, it wouldn't be with him or star Ron Perlman involved.
Hellboy may move into a different direction. I tried & wanted this- but, not up to me. I, for one, wish everyone involved the best of luck! https://t.co/mnHQcABI4l— Guillermo del Toro (@RealGDT) February 22, 2017
Hellboy and its sequel starred Perlman as demon rescued as an infant who becomes a defender of humanity against the forces of darkness.
Del Toro is currently in post-production on his new thriller, The Shape Of Water, which stars Sally Hawkins, Michael Shannon, Richard Jenkins, Doug Jones, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Octavia Spencer.
The Shape Of Water tells the story of a janitor in a government facility in 1963 America who falls in love with an aquatic man who is being held captive for testing.
